Chilled Out Goodness From Phantom Shilla and Bear//Face

Have some chillness from our friends Phantom Shilla, and Bear//Face. They've both been steady producing greatness since their inclusion on our Compilation (HERE) and I've been enjoying seeing their progress and success since. They've both given us what we have come to love from the two. A sonic sweeping wall of luscious sexiness from Bear//Face and those vintage dusty soulful sounds from Phantom Shilla. I could listen to these tunes all day...and now I can!

This Bear//Face tune is a collab with Lil Sad, you can see the Bear//Face influence and brings up the point tat you should all be following Lil Sad to boot. It's a really great lovestep jam and hopefully there will be more collabs of these two to come.

Then we have Phantom Shilla's great tune off the Room Silent compilation (HERE) which displays that vocal and instrumental vintage feel that makes you think you're in a Parisian loft smoking tons of cigarettes and seeing everything in filtered black & white, with open windows making the floor to ceiling white curtains billow in and out like laundry fluttering on the line.

Robotic Pirate Monkey Gets Re.Heated

Remix EP's are one of those dicey propositions where you can have 10-15 tunes that either hit the mark every single time or regurgitate the same original tune re-spun 15 minutely different ways.  With this Remix pack from Robotic Pirate Monkey we have a huge Colorado presence and if you like bass, glitch and a little sprinkling of trap, then you'll like this remix pack.

I've picked out some of my favorites which have come, not surprisingly, from artists we've featured on the blog before and one we haven't as of yet.  You know of TYR, Ben Samples and Proper Motion, and now meet Wicked Awesome.  Usually throwing out great trap tunes, Wicked Awesome gets a little more bassy and a little more glitchy than usual, and that's A-OK with us.

So check these tunes and download the ones you like for free!

Andrea's Sampled Goodness Best Of Days 12-20

I'm sure you all noticed a distinct slow down of blog activity over the past weekend.  For us Yanks, we have a holiday and we all pretty much took advantage in our own ways.  One guy who didn't take a holiday, though, is Andrea.  He's still going strong with his Sample A Day project (Part 1 and Part 2) and while we've missed posting every five tunes of his, you have hopefully all followed him and this project.  If not, though, check out these 4 favorites of mine from his Sample #'s 12 - 20.

Taking samples from artists as varied as Mobb Deep, Eels and Kraftwerk, you might ask if this is real life or just an idea sketched out drunkenly on a pub napkin.  But no, this is real life and gladly so because while I only have four below, they're ALL worth checking out.

So here you go, my favorite four from Samples 12-20.  Which are your favorites so far though?

Next Level Love

Kill Paris is always a consistent favorite of mine; he has a unique style that is instantly recognizable and always keeps a prominent sexy vibe.

Falling In Love Again is part of his latest album (coming this Fall) and be forewarned, there are some hot things going on here. The tune has a slow sexy buildup that leads to an eventual climax of pure funky debauchery.

Show Kill Paris some love on Soundcloud and Facebook and nab the tune on either iTunes or Beatport.

Nomming on AMB's Slick Snack

It's been a bit since we've posted some AMB..oh wait no it hasn't. We posted a tune of his just last week (remember?) because AMB is the shit.  AMB and Mr. Bill are two guys who I put together in the same group of artists who know their way around a DAW and who are great dudes to boot.  the fact that they're both halfway 'round the world also factors in to the equation, but the fact that every time a new joint from them drops I'm pouncing like a cat on a laser pointer.

So this tune here, Slick Snack is off of a nice compact EP off of Adapted Records and shows that AMB, or Ambrus Deak as he is called 'round the pub, still has it.  AMB was one of the first guys I ever posted on the blog (HERE) and he continues to be a guy that I keep very close tabs on.  And you should too!  So give him a follow (Soundcloud, Facebook) and check out this great EP (HERE)

Into the afternoon with Dirg Gerner

It's no secret that we here at Waxhole are big fans of Dirg Gerner, in fact he's somewhat of an inside joke between Hypo and I, often referring to 'fLako' moments (that moment when you find out 2 artists you follow are actually the same artist using different production aliases). Dirg's latest work, a beautiful 6 piece self titled EP further cements his place in the ranks of super-talent. His production is top-notch as always, the writing is deep and the vocals are pure bliss. Grab the 12" LP right now, or pick up the MP3 on July 22nd over at Eglo Records.

Here's a little 3 track preview, enjoy!

Monday Comes Gently with Giyo

Let me introduce you to Giyo (Facebook, Soundcloud). This is a 24 year old guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who specializes in experimental trip hop and world music. A few months ago Giyo dropped a LP on Dusted Wax Kingdom called, Tons Of Sky, that is quite tasty and available for name your price. Today we have a new track from Giyo called "Event Horizon" and this could be just the chill attitude adjustment you need to ease back in to work after a holiday weekend.

Xian and AZTEK Go Like This

You guys remember Xian from HERE, and who I have always pronounced See-ahn, but later found out is was pronounced more like Ex-Ee-Uhn, but I'ma still pronounce it like See-Ahn because y'know old habits die hard and shit.  Well this guy, who is of the Salt Lake crew Damn Son, is one talented dude.  His buddy Mark, aka AZTEK is as well.  I had never really heard much of AZTEK's work before I saw him live a few weeks ago and I have to say he has a good catalogue to rip through.  Both AZTEK (Soundcloud, Facebook) and Xian (Soundcloud, Facebook) are great guys too, so supporting their music is made that much easier.

This coming together for the both of them is not some random effort.  They have been talking and working together for a bit now and with the strength of their solo prodiction and the strength of this nice littlle joint effort, the duo will be something to watch.

So get at these nice little tunes, and go grab the Free Download (HERE) and give the blog Edoclu (Made up of Xian and Gaszia) a follow as well.  Their tastes align with ours and they provide some visual candy along with their finds so they're always a good follow.

As American As Sunshine

With a belly full of grilled meat and beer I came inside to watch TV and relax before this evenings festivities. After all celebrating your countries independence by blowing up a small piece of it is exhausting work. It should also be accompanied by kick ass soundtrack. While "The Star-Spangled Banner" is definitly the most patriotic, and we all love fireworks synced to Beethoven's Fifth, I suggest a different soundtrack this year. The live EDC set from one of my favorite DJ's is available for download and if you have never heard Tommie Sunshine move a crowd then you have missed out on one of the true masters of the art. The newly wed Sunshine is joined by his flag waving wife in this picture. Though a new bride is usually blushing, I think it's our cheeks turning red from this picture. Congratulations on the wedding Mr. Sunshine. We salute you, and happy Independence Day to us all.

Stwo's EP Is Beyond Belief

Our main man Stwo just dropped an EP off on us from LFTF (get it HERE), and when I say it's sexytime awesomeness, just believe me...it is.  You know the man stwo (yeah, and yeah, and uhhh yeah) if you've followed us for any length of time, and while he's released some stunners, they've always been in a single here, and a single there.  Remixes intermingling with originals it was plain to see that he was more than just a remix extraordinaire, and could throw his own original compositions and do so quite well.  So an EP or album just seemed like a natural next step (easy for us fans to say!) and he's delivered.

With 6 tracks to love, he has vocals, he has a remix from another great artist ANDREA (HERE) and an instrumental from an older work.  The EP really is a stunner and one that follows the one from RIT and LuQuS as my current favorite chill album for the week.  Stwo (Soundcloud, Facebook) really did a great job for an EP, much less a debut!

So let's get to the music, yeah?
